Albino Rocca 'Rosso Di Rocca' Nebbiolo 2024
Another long-time Piedmonte favourite of mine. Has always been a 'junior burger' priced wine but carries itself nicely as a proper serious Nebbiolo.
Having dropped the Barbera from the blend, the wine is now a 98% Nebbiolo and 2% Cabernet Franc mix. Some of the Nebiolo comes from 50yr+ wines while the Cabernet Franc comes from 20-year-old vines in Barbaresco.Â
Roero's sandy soils gift a lighter, brighter, early-drinking wine compared to the Rocca Nebbiolo d'Alba. The wine's upbringing (solely in tank) and early bottling helps keep to this theme.Â
